Thanks so much for joining our team of conservation funding advocates. The beauty of this list is that I'm committed to keeping these emails concise when they can be, with longer explanations only if necessary. If you ever have any questions, please feel free to call me in the office (202-800-2229) or by cell (202-425-4047).
Today, I just wanted to follow-up on the LWCF/Forest Legacy letter featured last week. The deadline has been extended through Tuesday morning, so we have just a few more hours to add signers. Staffers on the hill tell me they've been hearing from you, and thanks in part to your calls, we're up to 139 signers, but we're still short of the 150 who signed last year and numerous past supporters are not yet on board. Please check the list and urge any missing representatives from your service area to sign-on today (yes, it's late but 5-6pm eastern is actually a great time to get staff on the phone):
Please call (switchboard 202-224-3121) and urge your representative's natural resources staffer to sign-on by contacting Nicole Rohr in the office of Rep. Mike Thompson (D-CA) or Jenna Van Sant in the office of Rep. Mike Fitzpatrick (R-PA).
The Alliance continues to support modifying LWCF to more directly support the acquisition of land and easements to be held by land trusts. We believe that a higher funding level overall will allow for further experimentation with partnerships like the landscape initiatives highlighted in the President’s budget request. For now, we urge you to keep it simple and seek your representative’s signature on this letter.
Thanks for being part of our conservation funding team.
P.S. -- This email list is for land trust leaders that are interested in federal funding for conservation. Please let me know if there others at your organization or its partners who would like to subscribe.
