Hallelujah!!! House and Senate Agriculture Committee leaders announced today that the first public meeting for the 2013 Farm Bill conference committee is set for next Wednesday, October 30 at 1:00pm ET.
There is still time to influence the final Farm Bill - but you need to act now! Yesterday the Alliance sent emails to both Senate and House conferees. Staff on both Ag Committees are working hard to present an agreed-upon conservation title to the committee, so all the conferees need to hear from you right away.
Find out if you are in a state or district that is represented by a Farm Bill conferee, and please call and let them know how important Farm Bill funding is for the nation’s conservation community.
Your personal calls and emails are working…they are paying attention so keep up the pressure! The conference committee has lots of big ticket items, like the nutrition title, that have yet to be fleshed out so let’s make sure they’re hearing a consistent drum beat about something they can agree on: funding for the easement programs. Call and continue to help them understand what a difference these programs and the waiver could make to your community.

Don't Stop Flooding Social Media!
Keep using your social media channels to highlight your conservation success stories! Tell the story of what Farm Bill funding means to your community by using the hashtag #MyFarmBill on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, etc. Share your outreach with us. With the potential of losing the framework and funding for the conservation easement programs, this offers a perfect opportunity for the land trust community and their many achievements to shine.
And please tell me what kind of responses you are getting and how you are sharing your success stories. Help us inspire others to follow in your footsteps!
