The House and Senate negotiators have reached an agreement on a conference report for the Farm Bill. A vote in the House could come as early as Wednesday.
The Farm Bill, which is expected to pass, will generate more than one billion dollars for saving working farm and ranch lands. It also allows the Secretary of Agriculture to waive the cash match requirement for land trusts.
The Farm Bill has been a top priority for the Land Trust Alliance, which worked closely with both the House and Senate agriculture committees to ensure that farm and ranch easements survived budget cuts and became available to more land trusts.
The Alliance raised the funding to lead a coordinated effort of land trusts around the country to make this happen. Land trust leaders like you, who worked hard on outreach to their Senators and Representatives made this success possible. Thank you for your advocacy on behalf of the entire land trust community.
We will provide continuing updates here.
More details to come.
